This weeks recipe is: Homemade Goulash, ready in 30 minutes. Perfect comfort food on a cold night.
Goulash Recipe Ingredients:
One small onion sliced thin.
One pound of ground beef.
One quart of canned tomatoes.
3 cups of Macaroni noodles.
1 can of tomato soup.
In a med-large sauce pan, fill about half way with water (4-6 cups) bring to a boil then and add in 3 cups of Macaroni noodles along with a good pinch of salt. Cook until tender but not over done, as the noodles will continue to cook when added in with the beef mixture.
In a skillet add one tablespoon of olive oil along with your sliced onion, turn heat to med-high and cook until onion is translucent. Remove onion from pan and sit aside. Now add your pound of ground beef to the skillet you just removed the onions from; cook until brown and crumble (using your spatula or potato masher, crumble your hamburger as it browns).
If your canned tomatoes are whole or halves, you will need to chop them into bite size pieces.
Once your hamburger is brown add in your cooked onions along with your tomato soup and chopped tomatoes. Also add in salt and pepper to taste. Bring your contents to a simmer. Now you can add in your cooked macaroni noodles. Bring the pan back to a simmer and then turn the heat on low; cover the pan and let it cook while you set the table etc.
Serve with a salad, I also serve rolls or sliced bread and butter.
Sorry no picture this time; they had it gone before I could snap a picture. I’ll add one next time I make this dish for my family.
Note* If you prefer something with a bit of a kick to it. Try adding a can of chopped tomatoes and a can of rotel in place of the quart of tomatoes. Think out side the box and make each recipe your own.
