I’ll admit it I’ve reached the age of readers, readers for reading for work and leisure. I’m also one of those that doesn’t need reading glasses to see anything far away so if I should glance at the television I will push my glasses up on my forehead or even take them off and we all know what’s coming next, the search for those lost eyeglasses that I only had a moment ago. My children and grandchildren will laugh at me because many, many times I’ve been shopping and straining my eyes trying to read something and they will point out “your glasses are on your forehead”.

Once I’ve made myself a hot cuppa and shuffle into the office area by memory alone, I turn on “Monster Mac” yes, I named my computers. Once, I’m ready to glare bleary-eyed at the copious amount of email in my inbox I reach for my eyeglasses; without glasses, my screen looks like a big jumbled hot mess.

The Phoebe, this style is one of the reader styles I found online that would fit my personality. With spring hinges which make this pair of glasses fit even better and I don’t need to worry so much about stretching the shape out as I’m taking them off and on numerous times a day.

I keep The Phoebe on my desk now for the express purpose of not having to worry about where I laid my reading glasses, and for all intent and purposes, they are more than likely resting on my forehead. As I can see fine out and about I just cannot for the life of me read anything without my readers; the grandchildren even know to bring my glasses when they would like to look at a book together or play a game.

The Elsie reading glasses are also a fun style that fit my personality to a tee. With a fun cat eye style with tortoise print and a splash of metal detail along the temple area for a pop of color. This pair is sturdy and well crafted. My mother snatched this pair as her own last time I was down for a visit.

And yet the final poke at myself and my eyesight. In order to apply makeup, I lean all the way into the mirror so that my face is only a short distance away or I use my 15x magnifying mirror with the excepting of applying mascara as I’m not talented enough to bend down while viewing my eyelashes in the 15x mirror all the while trying to apply mascara can you say #MascaraInTheEyeBurns. So, it was time to experiment with readers for the sole purpose of applying makeup. Yes, ladies this style of eyeglasses will work, however, they come with a learning curve. You will need to relearn how to hold your mascara wand as well as eyeliner.

The one thing I will say about the Carrie makeup readers is that you should put them in a sturdy case and not just toss them in with your cosmetic as they will become damaged. And you should order a stronger power than you would normally wear in order to be able to visually see the makeup details. I say this because my readers are the same power I would use to read a book, that’s not strong enough to see my eyelashes while standing away from the mirror.

The Classic Bifocal Sunglass Readers are my absolute favorite! I really like the convenience of the sun reader as I can see out and away from me as we are traveling via car or I can glance down at my phone through the bifocal and see the name of the person shooting me an email. LOVE THEM! Oh and did I mention they are really cute!
