Our Family Showing Our #DisneySide with a Disney Trivia and Costume Party!

hosting a #DisneySide Party

I was super excited when I was selected to host a #DisneySide party awhile back, however the real fright set in when I realized I needed to come up with a multigenerational theme party to fit children from toddler through adults. Let me tell you I went through several sheets of paper hammering out  my thoughts, such as menu, games, theme and exactly how was I going to select a date when everyone in our extended family would be able to attend.

Low and behold it all finally came together with a large group of 22, eleven adults and eleven children in attendance for our Disney Side trivia & costume party!

Caution this post is picture heavy!

disneyside balloons

As you can see the day before the party we started decorating and not a room was left unadorned. I was wondering how long it would take the children to notice the balloons WAY… above their heads agains the living room ceiling. It wasn’t long. 😉

As the guys were airing up the balloons, we started hanging decorations and setting up for the guests. Note* yes, that is a cane holding the balloons down… however it started floating up before they were finished. lol.

I placed our stuffed Mickey and Minnie on the fireplace mantel with a couple of inexpensive pictures frame filled with printed picture of Mickey and Minnie prints.

disneyside23 table2

I reused some of the lovely purple shredded paper that was in my Disney Side party box as packing material, and besides I knew the girls would love the color.

disneyside23 table

I purchase a few inexpensive Disney toys for our table, and filled a couple of paper Mickey cups with Crayons for use during our games.

disneyside6

The girls decide grandma LeahSay didn’t quite have the Disney figures in the correct order. All better now! By the way we have Alice on the left and Boo on the right.

DisneySide Party1

The entry way table contained treat boxes filled with candy for the guest as they leave, along with a long row of gift bags under the table! I purchased a few inexpensive Disney characters cups to use for candy storage and then as gifts. Once again I use inexpensive frames with Disney prints to decorate the entry table and the children ended up with a fun keepsake of our Disney Side party.

disneyside nailstation

I provided a nail painting station for the girls to glam up their nails, which completed the princess and costumes perfectly.

disneyside drink station

We set aside a complete area as a drink station. The color changing mugs were so much fun, and we placed permeant markers near the cups allowing the children to place their names on their cups, which they took home with them at the end of the night.

disneyside7

I baked blueberry and vanilla muffins, and I whipped up a big batch of Rice Crispy treats, which are always a huge hit with our family.

We went the paper plate route for this party, and let me tell you I’m so glad we did, at the end of the night it was toss or cover, and I was done.

disneyside11 food

The selection of sandwich foods was rounded out with a few appetizers, fruit and chips and dip.

disneyside3

Once everyone had eaten their fill (well, the first time around) we moved into  groups and played Disney theme board games!

Here we have Minnie and Alice enjoying a buzzing good game of “Doc Stuffins” Operation.

Next we have two princesses and Boo battling it out in a game of Disney Candy-land.

The boys are popping along in a game of Disney’s Frozen Trouble.

We gathered around the kitchen table to enjoy a game of Disney Parks Bingo. We used mini M&M’s and Junior Mints as game pieces when the children then placed in a baggie to take home with them. Starting on the right we have Minnie and Alice (sisters), Boo and then… (I’m terrible because grandma can’t remember what tuff stuff told me he was dress as).

disneyside13 family

Here we are all eleven of the children gathered around the table to play games! It was so much fun!

#DisneySide22 pinitafamily

Time for our Cars piñata. We went with the pull string option since we were going to be indoors! Even the smallest of the children was able to participate. The funny thing was, the piñata didn’t open until the very last string was pulled! Talk about perfect timing!

disneyside12 family

We’re chatting up our game strategy, all the while still dipping back into the food as the munchies hit.

Now we move on to our Disney Photo Props, which my daughter and her children worked on in their homeschool class.

A mini Cruella Deville.

Where one goes the other two are sure to follow… The boys are close in age and they egg each other on, but you gotta love those smiles.

disneyside19 kaytlyn

My oldest granddaughter (the one I lose most card games to) as Maleficent. Believe it or not, she’s not too old to clown around with family!

Tinker Bell and her husband posing for a quick pic.

disneyside9 leahsay

Yes, I (LeahSay) was Minnie Mouse, well at least my headband looked the part. The children loved it and one of the little darlings managed to take it home with them at the end of the night.

disneyside7 harper

She normally has a smile for everyone but this was toward the end of the night and I think she was ready for a cuppa milk and her favorite blanket.

disneyside 9 kenna

Can you tell the party became a little rowdy toward the end? Still a prize winning smile!

disneyside8 laramie

This little one follows me around throughout the week. She’s enjoying a house full of family to run a play with.

disneyside4

As the party wound down, each of the children and the families were treated to a goodie bag and a treat box at the door. Along with all the fun party favors we had through out the night.

disneyside2

All in all it was great fun for everyone and I would enjoy getting together again soon for another game night. I would like to thank each of you for attending and making our #DisneySide Party a success!
