The National Geographic Kids – Book of Animal Poetry Giveaway with 3 (three) Winners!
The Starfish
When I see a starfish
Upon the shining sand,
I ask him how he liked the sea
And if he likes the land.
“Would you rather be a starfish
or an out-beyond-the bar fish?”
He never says directly,
But I fancy all the same
That he knows the answer quite as well
As if it were his name:
“An out-beyond-the-bar fish Is much happier than a starfish”;
And when I look for him again
He’s gone the way he came.

Seahorse
O under the ocean waves
I gallop the seaweed lanes,
I jump the coral reef,
And all with no saddle or reins.
I haven’t a flowing mane,
I’ve only this horsey face,
But under the ocean waves
I’m king of the steeplechase.
-Blake Morrison
Cuddling up with a great book and the grandchildren is sure to be an interesting time. We each like to point out our own observances of each picture and discuss any questions as they arise.
National Geographic has succeed in creating an engaging read for young and old alike. The pictures alone will delight. Then stir in an array of your most loved poets, this will bring us to the National Geographic Book of Animal Poetry.
I have always looked forward to the next issue of National Geographic for the pictures alone. Traveling to far away countries or visiting just around the corner through the eyes of the photographer.
I’m pleased to bring the awe-inspiring Book of Animal Poetry into our home, for the exact same reason. To share the brilliant photos and poetry with my grandchildren.
