Ladies it Time to Think About Safety with React Mobile Safety App

react mobile

Ladies and gentleman and most importantly teens… if you only download one app, make sure it’s the app that can help you in an emergency, React Mobile.

If you’ve been following the blog you will know at one point in my life I was an OTD Over The Road Truck Driver. That’s right all 48 States, Canada and Mexico. I started driving way before cell phones were popular or even used by the average person. If  and when I needed to speak with someone, I needed to find a place to park that over grow truck and locate a pay phone. For those of you who maybe too young to know remember what a pay phone is let’s take a quick look at what Wikipedia has to say… A pay phone is a public telephone, often located in a telephone booth (Phone booths in the US don’t quite meet Doctor Who standards) or a privacy hood, with pre-payment by inserting money (normally coins), a credit, debit or telephone card. Now lets just say for someone such as myself who is OCD AND with a germ a phobia… this was a challenging experience, imagine gross and take it up a notch {insert shiver}.

I’ve experienced plenty of times, late at night pulling into a deserted area to catch a few hours sleep or walking from the VERY back of an enormous parking lot full of semi trucks (which is pitch black AND you’ll need to walk between parked semis to reach the front) to the front of the fuel stop aka restroom. Or one of my all time favorites is being in the middle of a field someplace waiting to be loaded or unloaded with no phone or contact with the outside world what so ever, until you head back in to town.

I’ve been in areas of certain towns that most of you would never dare to enter, keep in mind this was before women started really coming into the OTR driver workforce. Out of necessity I was in many situations where I felt uncomfortable and even afraid, but this is a job in which, as a woman you must not show fear or weakness. That would be like chumming the waters for sharks.

On a seemingly normal run to a grocery warehouse in a southern location. I was asked to unload in the wee hours of the morning while it was still dark. This is standard practice for such places. I’d worked my truck around and backed into the dock, which is no easy feat when you’re trying to place a trailer, that the length alone is longer that the complete truck and trailer combined for which the dock area was built for back in the 60’s. Once I had backed into within a ten foot area of the loading dock I jumped out and opened the doors on my trailer, then I jumped back in to the cab and backed fully into the dock. Then I shut my truck down and reached for my paper work. Next I climbed out and locked the door on the cab and immediately placed my paper work in the back pocket of my jeans. Then I start down between my trailer and the person I’m parked next to. I reach the back set of dual wheels on the trailer and bend down to grab the chock blocks {when placed in front of the wheels it keeps the trailer from moving while the forklift is entering and exiting the trailer}. That’s the last thing I remember from that morning until I wake up under my trailer, where I’d been tossed. I was having trouble focusing and pulling myself out from under the trailer, when I did manage to pull myself out I had trouble walking to the cab of my truck. Once I managed to pull myself up into the cab and pull myself together I went in and turned in my paper work and filed a report. It wasn’t maybe six month later I decided to hang up my 5+ years of driving for a local job.

Each of the situations above are prime examples of a time I would’ve loved to owned a smartphone AND the React Mobile app. Have you ever been in a situation where you felt uncomfortable but didn’t know what to do. Or how to let someone know quickly you were in need of help.

With a SINGLE touch you can quickly activate the SOS system which will send an alert to friends, family and the authorities.

Your GPS location will be sent as a direct alert to your “network” of emergency contacts.

You will be able to report emergencies and criminal activity with the geo-stamped group message ability.

You will also be able to send trusted contacts a link to your real-time location with the “Follow-me” feature.

React Mobile Safety App, available download for Android and iPhones.

Take a look at the informative short video below, learn how you can turn your smartphone into a powerful lifeline.

Once the SOS alert is activated, you’ll be prompted to dial 911. For users outside of North America, the app allows you to choose which country you live in or are traveling in, located in the settings tab.

My daughters and my son like to run, therefore I will be sharing the React Mobile link with each of them. I feel the app would give each of them along with their families (ok, me) a little peace of mind knowing they can signal for help quickly by pressing the SOS button to activate the app, sending a signal to their emergency network when they need assistance.

I’m impressed the I’m safe feature which allows you know when your teen has reached their destination safely.  🙂

I’ve downloaded the React Mobile app and I hope you do too.

I received the React Mobile app free, in order to facilitate my review.*
