I’m always amazed when my tween granddaughter sends me a text asking if she can come stay a few day’s with “LeahSay,” I say this because normally by this age most tween/teens have moved on and the visits to grandma’s house are few and far between. It helps that we enjoy watching some of the same programs, Supernatural, The Originals, Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Criminal Minds just to name a few. So I consider myself very lucky indeed to still be included upon her social radar.
We spend a good amount of time playing card games while listening to Disney tunes. A little background; my granddaughter and my brother have a contest if you will over Sissy speaking directly to him. He is always telling her he’s going to wear her down until she’s talking to him. Last summer he was out in the pool with family and she sent him a text while he was in the pool! He was laughing and I could tell he was rather pleased because he was telling everyone about receiving a text from Sissy. She also sends him an invitation text about her dance performances so he will plan to attend her dance performance. Yes, it’s funny. She speaks quietly unless she becomes animated about a subject: dance, books, television program who’s who, you get the idea. One afternoon recently she and I were seated at the dining table playing cards and listening to Disney tunes. I can see my brother and his wife from the table area but she cannot. She starts singing low following the songs along. I glance in the living room and my brother turns the television down so he can hear her singing; neither of us saying a word to her. As the afternoon goes by she slowly increases her voice volume as she continues to sing along with the Disney tunes. At this point, my brother speaks up. “Hey, Sissy, you do realize I can hear you, right?” At this point, everyone starts laughing and she starts singing quietly once again.

Expert from a couple of the artist involved with the JAZZ LOVES DISNEY Album
Raphael Gualazzi
“There are a lot of Disney Movies I loved as a child and are still in my heart. The Jungle Book is my favorite one, I love characters and funny scenes. In Italy, we have Disney movies every Christmas and I used to watch them. I loved the bad guys and the thief of “101 Dalmatians”.
I want to give back the happiness and the funny aspect of these songs. I would like to contribute and bring my sensibility, the way I feel music, the way I feel the theme. I’m honored to share “bare necessities” with Melody Gardot, she’s one of the most important voices of the recent generation.”
Gregory Porter
“Disney represents the imaginative representation of good and evil for both children and adults, it represents a virtual dream state.
I loved the music.
Favorite movie: I loved Jungle book, a lot of Jazz, soul & blues, I used to be intrigued and still am.
I liked Mufasa’s voice, it was commanding, and I loved when it was time for him to spring into action and be the king of the jungle.
I’m singing “When You Wish Upon A Star, one of the most iconic Disney song. It’s one of these iconic songs which have always been a part of the fabric of your life. I write songs that have a positive message & this one has a positive message, it says think higher/greater, than your current situation for something better”
