This week my memories are taking me down the lane to electronics.

As my adult daughter and granddaughter were out and about shopping earlier today, she happened to stop by the electronics center of our local Walmart. She wanted to take a look at the iPad mini as a gift for her children. At this exact moment I had a flash back to my childhood. Christmas morning during my 5th grade holiday break; I received a portable cassette player.

Yep, exactly like this bad boy… portable 😉 I remember thinking this was the best gift EVER! I could carry it around with me listen to my favorite tunes and… record my own (yep pre-karaoke).

Then once again I received an awesome holiday gift during my 7th grade holiday break. A calculator; I’m talking one of those sleek little honeys that measured in at around 8 inches and was actually too big to fit into my purse 🙂 I always keep a calculator on my desk for double checking my checkbook. Doubles as a distraction for my granddaughter when she want to tap on my key board while I’m working.

Can you remember one of the first electronic devices you were given growing up. How old were you.

I’m simply amazed at the sheer genius children develop at such a young age when it come to electronics. One of the benefits of being bore in the computer age!
