Dreaming of New Kitchen Appliances #Fairyhobmother

As I sit and enjoy my morning coffee I find myself day dreaming of a DIY kitchen design and new kitchen appliances… A kitchen that is handicapped user friendly with a touch of retro in beige and red. I use an arm crutch to move around to help prevent falls, however in the kitchen I can maneuver around by just gripping the edge of the counter. But alas since our kitchen was built over 20 years ago with healthy individuals in mine I find myself grasping for a hand hold where there isn’t one. Why is this important to me. Well, I would actually have both hand free for use in the kitchen area; meaning moving around with ease as well as cooking and cleaning with two hands. Something that is not possible with one hand firmly gripping my arm crutch.

My ideal kitchen would have the appliances, counters and island all within no more than two steps between each item. The cabinets would need to have pull out drawers, since I’m unable to crawl around on the floor to find the crock-pot located WAY in the back. Oh and another thing I would love to change about our kitchen is the counter height. Ours sit low, I stand at 5’6″ and this causes added back and leg pain when bending over every task.

This one is lovely as well. Of course both kitchens would need to have the floor space brought in to accommodate me.

Since we live in the country I would love to incorporate something along the lines of this gem into my island seating area. Beautiful and functional.
