Holiday Appetizer or Tailgate Party Favorite, Creamy Bacon Cheese Dip
Ingredients:
1 lb bacon
3 – 6 green onions
2 packages of softened cream cheese
1 small package of finely shredded cheddar cheese
1 package of buttermilk recipe Hidden Valley Ranch Dip (DRY MIX)
1 – 1 1/2 cup chopped pecans
You could replace the green onion with chopped jalapeños peppers if you prefer a hotter dip.
Cut your pound of bacon into inch wide strips. When I first open the package I take a pair of kitchen scissors and cut through the entire stack of bacon strips at once, from one end to the other until I have the desired size for the project I’m working on. Example, I slice bacon and brown it the same way for garnish on potato soup. Once your bacon is cut into inch strips, place into a skillet and fry on medium heat until crispy. Remove from pan and allow to drain on a paper towel until needed.
Now for the green onion. I like onion so I chopped up 6 onions, but if you do not care for an abundance of onion flavor then reduce to 2 or 3 green onions. And yes, I am using a paper plate to chop my onions in this photo… don’t judge. I was in a hurry so I wouldn’t be late for our holiday dinner party.
Place the softened (not room temperature, you want the cream cheese to be cool-cold) cream cheese along with the package of DRY ranch dip mix into your mixing bowl and cream together on LOW just until combined. Then add the shredded cheddar cheese, bacon, and green onion, then mix on LOW again until combined. Be careful not to over mix.
Once all of the ingredients are combined, using a rubber scraper, scrape the mixture onto a piece of waxed paper or tin foil. Now shape into a dome.
The press the chopped pecans into the outside edge of the cheese dip. The gently place your hand onto the top of the ball and the pick up the ball from the bottom of the foil and then remove the foil and place in your desired serving dish. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve, allowing the flavors to combine.
Just prior to serving your fantastic creamy bacon cheese dip, add a few crackers around the outer edge of the serving bowl and a cheese spreader.
A quick dip that takes 30 minutes or less to prepare. I know the photo above makes the amount of dip appear small, however, it makes enough for a crowd.
Happy Holidays!

Bacon… I love bacon added to most foods. I know it’s wrong but it’s so good.

Sounds good to me–and the more onions the better! I have seen cheese balls sold for really high prices-this has got to save you money as well.
