Sammy the Surfer enjoys eating foods that are gluten and dairy free. My name is Sammy and I love the ocean! Isn’t going to the beach so much fun? Playing in the waves is my favorite thing to do. There are so many great activities to do near the ocean. When I’m at the beach with my family I like to take my boogie board in the water and ride the waves over and over again. My favorite color is red so of course I have a red board that I use all summer long, and I have a red swimsuit too. I love my red boogie board and I’m really good at holding on while riding a wave. My big brother is teaching me how to use his surfboard so some day I can stand up and surf just like he does. Until then I can ride on my tummy and hold on…the waves are awesome!
A lot of people don’t know what it means to have gluten intolerance, or even what gluten free means! Do you? Well, first of all, gluten is a special protein found in many grains like wheat, barley, and rye. When I eat any food that has even a little bit of wheat or flour in it, I feel really nauseous and sick in my tummy. Sometimes it is really hard for me to go to the bathroom when I eat any kind of gluten. My tummy can get really swelled up and have lots of pains. Being gluten intolerant means that my intestines cannot digest the gluten protein in grains. So I eat only glutenfree food! My mom uses a really yummy gluten free waffle mix to make my breakfast and I can’t even tell the difference between it and the regular mix. My whole family eats gluten free pasta that tastes delicious with our organic tomato sauce. My mom also uses almond flour and rice flour to make me muffins and bread so that I don’t have to feel like I miss out on those foods.
Bailey the Bubble Maker loves to eat organic foods. My name is Bailey and making bubbles is something I love to do… Yellow is my favorite color! I try to wear something yellow almost every day; I get really excited when I find books at the library with yellow covers and lots of fun pictures with yellow characters. Isn’t the library so much fun? My mom helped me talk to the librarian and get my very own library card. I keep it in a safe place at home and use it when I go to the library so that I can check out books by myself. I’m learning how to read right now, so I spend a lot of time finding books that have fun stories with really good pictures to help me as I learn. I’m getting better at reading on my own, but I still love to have story time with my dad, especially when it comes to reading about healthy snacks for kids. Every night before bed we sit in our favorite big, comfy chair and I get to choose two books for him to read to me (my favorite has pictures yellow lunch boxes on the cover!). I get to turn the pages as he reads and helps me with words I don’t know.
Organic foods are my absolute favorite. I want to grow to be really big and strong, and eating organic food and recipes for kids that are organic helps me grow the best that I can. Even more important than my muscles and bones is my brain – my body isn’t the only thing that is growing every day! My brain is a big part of everything I do because it controls all my movements and my thoughts. I need a strong, healthy brain so that I can read as many books as possible and listen really well during story time. By eating healthy kids recipes using organic foods, I am giving my brain the nutrients it needs to help me grow and have fun.
Dusty the Diver loves to eat raw foods. I’m Dusty the Diver. Have you seen my goggles anywhere? I’m getting ready for an exciting adventure diving underwater and I have my purple flipper fins, my purple snorkel, and all I need to find are my purple goggles. Can you guess what my favorite color is? That’s right – PURPLE!! Playing in the water and diving with my goggles is so much fun….I guess that is why my name is Dusty the Diver. When I am playing I use my imagination to create exciting stories happening underwater. Today I’m imagining that I have a secret special mission to find lost treasure in the ocean. You will never run out of exciting things to play when you use your imagination. Want to imagine with me?
After a long time of exploring and dressing in costumes, we always meet my mom in the kitchen for healthy snacks for kids. Using my imagination makes me hungry! Do you know what part of your body is super important for imagining? Your brain! Without a healthy, happy brain I could never do any of the things I imagine. That’s why I want to give my body the best food and healthy snacks so it can help my brain grow and stay strong. Eating raw food is the healthiest thing we can do for our bodies and our brains.
Do you know what the word “raw” means? I learned it from my parents and my older brother because they love raw food and raw snacks for kids. Raw means that the food hasn’t been cooked or treated with any preservatives or chemicals in any way. Eating raw food means you are eating food as close to its natural self as possible – and that is the best kind of food to eat! There are so many fun raw snack ideas for kids to make healthy snacks.
Scout the Soccer Player: loves making healthy snacks. Hello my name is Scout…and I love playing kids sports. Soccer is my favorite! I like to play sports with my friends everyday. After I practice kicking the soccer ball a little on my own, I try to help my little sister learn to kick, too. She isn’t big enough to play on my team yet, but it’s really fun to teach her. I love when my family comes to watch my games on Saturday. My mom and my grandpa played soccer when they were my age. They try to teach me new tricks all the time.
Doing so many activities means I need a lot of energy. I’m growing every day, just like you, and my muscles are getting stronger from all of my sports. Since I need so much energy, I have to make sure I give my body the best things I can to make that energy – do you know what that is? Healthy snacks for kids! My mom says that eating healthy snacks is important, and I’m learning how cooking for kids and fun healthy food can be – and how great my body feels when I give it healthy snacks especially from eco friendly bags made for kids. When I don’t eat healthy my body feels sluggish and I want to go to sleep – and that isn’t good for sports! Eating healthy means I can run faster in soccer, hit harder in t-ball, and have strong legs to practice on the balance beam.
One really cool thing about healthy snacks for kids or recipes for kids is that I can find food in my favorite color – ORANGE!! Fresh oranges are awesome; they have super high concentrations of vitamin C, which is really important for protecting me against colds and ear infections. Vitamin C helps keep my immune system strong and ready to fight germs. Oranges are also a great source of fiber, and fiber is important for giving us energy and keeping our tummies healthy. Easy to throw in a reusable sandwich bag or boxes for kids lunches. Oranges also contain folate, which is really important for keeping our cardiovascular systems healthy. Our heart, blood, and veins are all part of the cardiovascular system – so the folate in oranges and other citrus fruits is really great for keeping our hearts strong so that the rest of our body is strong, too!
How adorable are these eco-friendly lunch bags…? I just love the cute little monsters on the front however, the fact they are biodegradable is a super big plus for my family and myself since I enjoy composting and gardening I worry about the products we place in our plant earth.
Each bag was the perfect size for a child’s portion for snacks and lunches. The zip top closure sealed tight each and every time, making for a mess free lunch box, even when we included peeled orange slices in his lunch.
The Grandchildren fell for the super cute monsters right out of the box. My granddaughter thought she was being super cute. She confiscated the pink monsters Wexy Bags to take in her lunch sack. Leaving the boys with the blue, orange and green monsters. Truly… did she think the boys would be interested in the pink girly monsters. We’re talking about boys whom chooses camo and blue for their favorite colors. It’s all good! I feel the Wexy Bags would make an excellent gift; think stocking stuffer!
The grandchildren and LeahSay give the Wexy bags a big thumbs up! I would and DO recommend Wexy Bags to family and friends.
