Week 18 #NSNation at @Nutrisystem: Curbing Cravings!

I maintained my 31.5 lbs weight-loss this week! This brings me to a total of -31.5 lbs and -26 inches in the 18 weeks!

I did not lose any weight this week but I did not gain any weight back either. I’m taking this as a plus! I have been working outdoors being very active and using muscles that have been lax over the winter months. I will not beat myself up about not losing I will choose to be happy that I held steady and I feel good!

This week we will be discussing Curbing Cravings. Dealing with the thoughts and images that cause food cravings.

Confront it!

Ask yourself if you’re really hungry or just “have to have” the food that popped into your mind. Talk to yourself and try to stop the craving. Try statements such as: “I know I’m not hungry. Just because I’m thinking about chocolate chip cookies doesn’t mean I have to eat them” or “Every time I choose not to eat when I think about food, the easier it will be to stop unhealthy snacking.”

Substitute it!

When images of food pop into your head, replace them with images of other pleasant events. Those images might include a sunset, your weight loss, or the compliments you received yesterday. You can also focus on what you’ll look like once you reach your goal weight. Try to imagine all the pleasures weight loss will bring.

Distract it!

Distract yourself from thoughts of food by doing something you enjoy. Choose activities that keep your hands busy, like knitting, repairs around the house, or sending an email or text message. You could also call a friend, take a walk, take a bath, brush your teeth or follow your fitness routine. Any of these will probably distract you enough to stop the thoughts of eating.
